9.25x12.25" Vol.2 #12 eight page issue of “The Beaver” for August 27, 1943 has front cover specialty art at left with Superman waving and wearing military hat and carrying sack with text “Superman U. S. Army Air Corp”. Just above image is large text “Look Who’s Here At Yale!” with “Superman!” text just beneath image. Article includes “Arriving Yesterday At Yale Under Sealed Orders, Aviation Cadet Clark Kent Reported To Shipping And Receiving At The Technical School Here, For Active Duty”. Article mentions Kent working as a feature writer for the Daily Planet and volunteering as Superman in his spare time and includes paragraph “Reporting Under Special Orders, Kent Will Study In the Armament, Engineering And Photography Departments. This Morning, In An Exclusive Interview With The Beaver AC Kent Stated That His Co-Worker Miss Lois Lane, Also Of The Daily Planet, Will Not Seek Employment In Cadet Mess”. Page seven has a full page article titled “Superman Smashes All Yale Records; Elected Posts No. 1 Eager Beaver” with additional text at left side “It’s A Bird! No...It’s A Man! No....It’s Superman!” and reprints page with Clark Kent in training from Superman Issue No. 25. See item #2698. Text at bottom includes “Serving As Technical Advisors On The Story Were S/SGT. Fred Ray Who Was A Member Of The Superman Art Staff In Civilian Life, And SGT. Mort Weisinger, Of The HQ Detachment, Who Was Its Associate Editor Prior To His Induction. There Is No Truth To The Rumor That Superman Went On Sick Call After A Two-Hour Workout In The Temple Of Sweat”. Weisinger is also listed as Associate Editor of this magazine. Contents include articles and photos of interest to this particular group along with panel cartoons by Sansone and Burnett. Issue has a few lt. handling creases with bit of lt. wear and trace of lt. dust soil at top margin edge of front and back covers. Fine overall. Extremely limited distribution. First we’ve seen in our 45 years. Rare and well done.
