Item Description
14-5/8x17-5/8" high quality vintage walnut wood frame has 9.75x12 5/8" with gilt edge opening revealing wonderful photo of 32 member band in uniform with some instruments including text on large drum in center “Third Brigade Band N. G. P. Instituted September 19, 1879 Pottsville, PA." Center has Keystone emblem with large number “3". Large variety of instruments shown include trombones, trumpet, clarinet, and photo also includes two black cooks standing behind men in center. Front blank bottom margin edge has hand-inked text “Encampment N. G. P. Seminary Ridge Gettysburg, Pa. August 4th, 1884". Reverse side had glass insert added which covers back of photo listing all band members by name and instrument played along with both cooks’ names. Center has photographer ink stamp “P. S. Weaver Hanover, PA” with design of frame on easel. Frame has trace of lt. scattered wear with a few small scratches here and there but Near Fine appearance. Emulsion of photo has yellowed with age but still clear and Fine/VF. Reverse side margins of photo are a bit tanned. Fine. Groups such as this were allowed to camp on the battlefield areas during this time period.
