Item Description
Two items c. 1950s presented by Mayor Joseph Altman. First is 6.75" wide leatherette snap case with city crest and mayor's name on front holding 5.75" wide gold finish highly detailed cast metal key to "Atlantic City". Case interior is missing small fastener that held key in place otherwise case is Exc. with NM key. Large 11-5/8x14-5/8" cardboard folder holds 9.5" tall miniature "Atlantic City Beach Patrol" tank top on left and 8-3/8x11.5" elaborate certificate at right granting recipient the title of "Honorary Lifeguard" with gold seal on ribbon at lower left. Certificate is filled out in ink to recipient John C. Coffey and signed in ink by Joseph Altman and appointing official Leonard Jackson with ink date at lower left June 22, 1957. Folder is a bit worn around edges, masking tape holding plastic hanger for tank top is yellowed with age and certificate has some tanning at top. Overall Fine. Interesting pair given out in limited quantities.
