6.25x11x2.5" deep nicely illustrated box contains set of four 4" long tin litho cars by Automatic Toy Co. ©1948 Fawcett Publications Inc. Box has die-cut lid and depicts race spectators, flagman, with Captain Marvel flying overhead against lightning bolt. Side panel has side view of driver in race car, opposite side has two crew members working on one of the Captain Marvel race cars. Box insert is brown with accent lines and designed as race track. Box lid has pulled loose and has 1x2" piece of thin cardboard added on reverse side flap for reinforcement. Handling wear with creases, small tears and edge wear. Just Good but a rare and desirable box. Cars are complete with four keys and all work. Slight trace of wear but all four are bright and VF. Rare and only the third boxed set we've offered in our 45 years. The last one we sold in similar condition realized $2,087. Wonderful Captain Marvel item for display.
