Item Description
Ribbon is 5.5" tall displaying the quoted text plus "Kittery, Maine/1944/Souvenir/Portsmouth/New Hampshire/Launching." The exact launching date was March 28, 1944 and this was a Balao-class submarine. She was the first to be named for a dogfish, a small shark of the North Atlantic, considered destructive by fisherman. The submarine went on five war patrols in the Pacific and earned two battle stars. Fabric has couple of pinpoints of stain but displays clean and Exc.
