Item Description
Large 1-7/8" tall brass star is without luster but has clean muted brass color surfaces. Within each arm of the star, recessed, is either a paper or painted accent color with a somewhat pink tone but also somewhat dust-covered. At the center is a 5/8" brass rim holding ferrotype portrait with text above "A. Lincoln 1864." Emulsion has pinpoint missing dot on his beard and another on the left next to his eye but both are so tiny as to be invisible without magnification. Reverse has a 1.5" vertical stickpin which swings freely to the left or right but which is firmly anchored to the top star point. Overall Fine but the ferrotype portrait displays Exc. One of the few figural Lincoln ferrotypes. From the Hake collection. Rare.
