Auction #184 - Part I
Item numbers 1 through 952 in auction 184
Item Description
This 1864 piece is nearly 3" tall and is comprised of four levels of elevated ovals surrounding a recessed center accented by a gold oval surrounding slightly domed glass covering a 1.5" essentially Mint as made tintype portrait. The gold oval has a little loss of the bright luster on its inner surface but this shows very little and most of the gold accent remains. The front of the piece is o/w in superb condition. Back of piece has just two small dots of black color off the center panel. Reverse includes a brass ring at top for suspension and the image area has a pair of small brass pins which hold the backing in place over the tintype. A rare and gorgeous Lincoln item in exceptional N. Mint condition.
