Item Description
4.5" long box contains pocket watch with 2" dia. chromed metal case. Produced in 1933 for distribution in the United Kingdom. The celluloid dial features an early non-traditional image of Mickey which was quickly revised to the traditional face and thinner body w/issue of the second English Ingersoll (see item #2365). Also has a second hand disc w/three small Mickey images. This first version comes in box with repeat images of Mickey, Minnie, Horace and Clarabelle on the outside and additional image of Mickey on inside. Same design as the US box but with added text of "Reproduced With The Consent Of Walter E. Disney/This Box Printed And Made In England." Complete with insert. Small trace of edge wear including 1" sliver flake to front edge of lid surface paper but still a clean and tight example w/strong color. VF. Top outer rim edge of case has luster wear but near full luster remains otherwise. Case Fine. Dial Exc. Running. Has guarantee paper dated 2/12/33. VF. Also comes with 1-1/8" silvered brass fob w/fixed loop at top. Image of Mickey on front has some paint loss but much remains. Back text reads "Ingersoll Mickey Mouse Watches & Clocks." Trace of luster loss. Fine overall and even rarer than the watch, this is only about the fifth we've offered in our 45 years. The watch itself is rare due to the single year small production run. Our last boxed example, which did not come w/a fob, sold for $2,472.
