Auction #184 - Part I
Item numbers 1 through 952 in auction 184
Item Description
1.75" dia. brass frame has brass bar on reverse for attachment. Front is comprised of very thick glass covering which has beveled edge. Interior is made of diecut gold/silver luster border accents which surround a large tintype portrait of Cleveland. Glass surface has tiny 1/16" rub line at lower right and a few tiny pinpoint rubs that catch reflected light but all remains exceptionally clean and w/Mint luster on the foil inserts. The tintype is essentially perfect. Reverse has partial remains of a blue sticker missing paper from each end but w/text still remaining "Patent Oct., 19." See similar pair of rosettes w/cardboard photos #7. This is the only example we recall seeing w/tintype photo. Likely from 1884 or 1888. Rare.
