Item Description
From 1935 and issued to promote their new "Aero Wrist Watch" but tying in Mickey Mouse to draw attention to this watch while capitalizing on Mickey's popularity and success of the Ingersoll Mickey timepieces. All three pieces are thick cardboard. Main center section is 23x30" w/large image of the Art Deco-inspired "Aero" watch along w/silhouette images of streaking airplanes. At bottom is overhead view of the US w/landmarks of NY buildings, FL palm trees and alligators, TX oil towers. At corners are Japan and France. Pair of ocean liners in the bkg. The other two pieces are each about 14x14" and attach at the lower sides of the center unit. These have easel backs and stick out about 6" giving the fully assembled display a nice dimensional appearance. The one on the left features full figure image of an excited Mickey who says "Millions Of Children Keep On Time With My Watches." The one on the right features a man w/fishing gear, woman w/gold clubs and seated boy scout using binoculars. Text reads "Stainless Band Or Sweatproof Strap With The New Ingersoll Aero." These pieces are loose from original staples but could be easily and permanently reassembled if desired, or just positioned as is for display. Center section is mounted to a sheet of foamcore. Has horizontal creases across center w/color touch-ups. Other moderate edge wear including 1/8" hole at right center. Mickey piece has 1.5" area w/color touch-up on one foot. Reinforcement added to back of word balloon as this was creased. Other edge wear and small touch-ups to black border color. Third section trace of edge wear, black border touch-ups. All have some dust soiling but overall appearance remains bright w/great color. VG/Fine. An exceptionally impressive display and the only complete example we have offered in our 45 years. Only once before did we have just the Mickey section and that sold on its own for $3,675.
