Item Description
c. 1930. ©King Features Syndicate. 3.75” dia. by 4” tall tin litho with choice graphics on all sides. Face has design of Popeye kneeling with mechanical arms pointing to time. There is some crazing to paint on Popeye's arms. One side of clock has two images of Popeye, the other side has two images of Wimpy. There has been some professional restoration to these images. Back side of clock has seated Popeye posing for smiling young cartoonist. Art is signed by creator Segar at lower left. Underside of clock base has four more characters including Olive Oyl and Rough House. New Haven Clock Co., Conn. Minor edge dent on back rim, half circle scratch on back at time wind key. Tiny traces of wear, o/w with some tiny pinpoint nicks. Totally bright and glossy. Clock and alarm work. Fine/VF. One of the rarest character clocks. Wonderful design with choice graphics.
