Item Description
This is the large version of the previous three items. Turtle is 4-3/8" long with a hinge on one side of the back and a notch so that the celluloid covering serving as the back can be lifted up revealing a mirror on the underside of the back and a rather spacious storage compartment within the interior. The celluloid has a 1.5" crack and a pair of .25" adjacent cracks about 1" down from the turtle's head but showing very little and mostly just in reflected light. Text reads "The Nassau Bank/Safe/Solid/Sound/Safe Deposit Vaults." Celluloid includes name of maker W&H. Very rare in this large format, we've seen just a couple. Still displays beautifully.
