Item Description
1.25" w/great image of eight Brownies around snow-accented section of fencing serving as a monthly calendar. This scarce monthly series from the inventor of the celluloid covered button began November 1896 or earlier and lasted through November 1897 or later. Has W&H name and address visible on bottom edge but missing a full color floral "Compliments Of The Whitehead & Hoag" backpaper. No name of creator Palmer Cox but the only button design we know of to depict accurate likenesses of his characters. Three seen but only one had the backpaper. Cello is NM, displaying Mint. Rare.
