Item Description
Large and impressive with overall size of 12x14x16" tall. Carved wood base w/ornate detailing and acrlyic cover. Base has simulated plaque reading "The Sorcerer's Apprentice From Fantasia 1940." Permanently attached to the base is 14.5" tall Mickey figure constructed of foam rubber, hard plastic w/flocking and fabric outfit. He holds a magic wand. Hat is decorated w/foil stars. Attached in front of Mickey is a metal/glass lantern and a carved/painted wood open "Spells" book. All is wonderfully executed and detailed. Slightest wear to all, Exc./NM. This was sold by the Disneyland Disneyana Shop which was only open for business from 1976 to 1978. The store was founded as a vintage shop offering authentic Disney items from the past going back to the 1930s. Supplying this type of material became difficult so the idea was to implement selling high end new creations as well. This was spearheaded by Disney Legend Ralph Kent who worked with the window display group from Disneyland to make these creations. All of these pieces, including the one we are offering here, had extremely limited productions (some as low as just a few) and all started at $1,500 or more as the issue price. This is the only such example of any of these we have offered in our 46 years. From the Tomart Archives and comes with COA signed by Tom Tumbusch and Ted Hake.
