Item Description
12.25x21.5" die-cut double-sided thin cardboard sign/hanger for the realistic and harrowing 1930 Universal World War I movie based on the 1929 book written by Erich Maria Remarque and starring Louis Wolheim, Lewis Ayres, John Wray, Slim Summerville, Russell Gleason, William Bakewell, Scott Kolk, Walter Browne Rogers, Ben Alexander, Owen Davis Jr., "And A Cast Of Thousands." Directed by Lewis Milestone, film was produced by Carl Laemmle, Jr. and centers on a group of young friends who join the army during World War I only to have their patriotism turned to misery by the horrors of war. Interesting design w/image of "All Quiet On The Western Front" book w/German soldier cover art that actually opens to reveal cast and film particulars. Top of sign has photo image of soldier holding woman's hand w/text "At Last The Motion Picture!" Reverse has different art, showing back side of book and explosion w/large movie title. Another explosion image totes the film as "The Greatest War Epic Of All Time." Designed to hang in theater lobbies by hole punch at top. Torn at middle/top of book area which has been professionally reattached w/restoration that blends nicely. VG. Rare and first we've offered in our 46 years.
