Made by Peter Puppet Playthings, designed by Raye Copelan. 10x16x2.75” deep thin cardboard box has circus theme lid w/large image of Clarabell at right and Howdy, Dilly Dally, and Flub-A-Dub at upper left. Contains 46” tall striped thin cotton costume w/ plaster clown pin on front, 7” diameter mask, pair of 11” long woven bedroom slippers with leather soles, pair of 16.5” long die-cut thin cardboard clown shoes, fabric neck ruffle, and 4x6” thin cardboard “Tooter” box marked Clarabell. Missing toy blowette, propeller toy, horn, belt in box. Box and contents have dust soil, aging, and wear. Mask is Poor, box is Good contents otherwise VG. Despite problems, a seldom found and rare Howdy Doody item.
