Item numbers 1 through 1278 in auction 206
Item Description
1-3/8" white metal holed on the rim as issued. This event was sponsored by the Springfield Bicycle Club and there is a gorgeous large poster that was produced for the event as well. This is the souvenir medal which pictures a man on the front surrounded by text "Bicycle Tournament Sept. 18-19-20/1883." Reverse has city seal along with dates Springfield became a town in 1638 and then a city in 1852. Details on each side are a bit smooth. All text and images are clear. The earliest dated bicycle item we are aware of.
