Auction #182 - Part I
Item numbers 1 through 1499 in auction 182
Item Description
Striking and rare 1.25" shows working man's dinner pail with battered knife and fork inserted in the slots on the pail's side. The pail itself reads "Tin, Coffee, Oil, Beef, Biscuits." Surrounding text reads "Wire, Sugar, Cotton, Leather, Tobacco." Bottom slogan which is pro-Bryan and anti-McKinley reads "The Full-Of Trust-Dinner Pail." Damage consists of a horizontal hairline celluloid crack across the center. This shows just a little and is a little noticeable to the touch. Under magnification there are two much smaller, about 3/16" cracks along the lower right edge. Piece still displays totally clean and has exceptionally high gloss. Reverse has .75" cello split by the collet but cello lays perfectly flat and split hardly shows. Backpaper reads "Campaign Advertising Co. Detroit, Mich." Rarely offered.
