Item Description
First with fabric in colors of Italy is 3-1/8" tall holding medal with pair of nude men raising a torch to symbolize progress. Reverse of the piece shows squadron of seaplanes flying over a building with designation below "Italia." This is an obvious reference to the historic flight by Italian aviator Balbo, see lot #600. Second is ribbon badge for "Chicago 1933 American Legion Fifteenth National Convention." Designs includes Fort Dearborn as well as Indian in elaborate headdress posed against a city skyscraper to his left. Tiniest dot of green on left side of legion logo but hardly noticeable and rest is NM displaying Mint.
