Auction #206 - Part I
Item numbers 1 through 1278 in auction 206
Item Description
1.75" by W&H although missing their backpaper. Our only other example of this in Auction #204 was issued for the Texas State Fair in 1898 and realized over $600. This button features the same art but for a different event. Her outfit, as on the 1898 Texas fair button, includes the Texas state flag over her chest area. Perched on her hair is an eagle with rwb star and stripe wings. Surface has light hairline scratches over much of it but they are not deep and they barely show even in reflected light. Faint pinpoint dot on left edge and 1/16" tan dot on upper right neither detracting much at all. Fabulous color. First example we've seen with this imprint.
