Item Description
3.75" tall in beautiful enamel on bright golden and dark brass. The piece was issued by the "Chicago" group known as the "Medinah Temple." Here they spoof their name by showing a barefooted black woman in pantaloons and gown of red enamel. A small segment of enamel is off her raised arm along side her head which wears a fez. On close inspection she has kinky hair extending below her fez. Her gown is inscribed with the word "Me" while her saber is inscribed "Dinah" and below her feet the text continues in 'black' dialect "Gwin To Los Angeles May 1906." Actually, this national convention never took place as it was canceled due to the earthquake in San Fransisco. See next related item and Mother Mecca item #1327.
