Item Description
The five buttons in this set are usually seen in the 7/8" size. This is the much scarcer 1.25" size with name of maker on curl "Economy Novelty Co. N.Y.C." The buttons in this set portray the movie stars Judy Garland, Frank Morgan, Jack Haley, Ray Bolger, and Bert Lahr each in their movie role. In the 1.25" size each carries a serial number apparently used in a contest or for the awarding of prizes by whatever movie theater was showing the movie at the time. Given the rarity of these most likely that was a single theater somewhere in NYC. This example has serial number "1547" and pictures "Frank Morgan" as the Wizard. Text on lower rim reads "M-G-M's Wizard of Oz." Front cello is Exc. with just .25" line of surface wear in reflected light. Displays Mint.
