Item Description
c. 1950s. 42" long black silk taffeta cocktail dress w/three spaghetti straps on back of each shoulder. Ruffled hem and 7" zipper on back. Lightly aged but o/w Exc. 1.5x7" sparkling rhinestone and silver luster metal bracelet has lightest trace of aging and lightest wear to back, but still dazzling and Exc. Last item is 7x8.5" cream silk evening bag w/gold metal swivel handle and clasp. Bag is adorned w/numerous loops of tiny white pearl-like beads and iridescent pearl-colored sequins. Cream silk lining w/small interior pocket. Light wear to beads, but still displays Exc. Comes w/LOA signed by Lynn Pupello, the founder of the Harvard Film Society stating that "Marilyn Monroe Donated These, Her Personal Possessions, To My Collection In 1961." LOA goes on to state that these items were sold as part of the "Help For American Indians" memorabilia sale. Letter also notes transfer of ownership to our consignor w/date of July 28, 1997. A wonderful chance to obtain items actually worn and used by the 20th Century's biggest sex symbol. The mannequin shown in this lot is dressed in all five pieces from lots 1536-1538.
