Item Description
Each of these pieces carries the word "Sterling" and each is about 7" long. Going top to bottom in our photo we will detail the features of these. First is in links spelling out the letters of "U S Navy" along with a link showing anchor and "USN." Next is also of links each showing an anchor and each reading "USN." This piece was made by the jewelry firm "Coro." Third carries the name "Catrambone/Anthony/Francis/U.S.N.R." Additional engraving on reverse includes service number. Next carries name "Wm T Crouse, Jr." plus service number and "U.S.N." Plate on this one has some small scratches. Next carries name "James T. Owens/U.S.N.R." Underside is engraved "To Jim Love Always/Your Dorothy." Also carries name of maker "Black Starr/Gorham." Next has both a thinner plate and smaller links with plate featuring eagle shield and anchor emblem. No text other than "Sterling." Next is designed to hold a photo beneath cover bearing "USN" anchor logo which opens. The thin link chain on this is missing a clasp but a pair of rings hold it to the photo compartment. Next is interesting piece with relatively small rectangular top accented by pair rwb enamel circular designs with star centers. This was the National Aircraft insignia from May 1917 to May 1942. It appeared first on navy planes and then marine planes as well. There is a single raised metal tiny dot next to each of the insignias and we don't know why they are there but there they are. They do not go through to the underside. Next is heavy bracelet with raised area at far left that seems to have a celluloid-like background upon which is mounted a brass marine corps symbol. Underside reads "I In O U E/40 Silver." Last is bracelet having emblem of "United States Coast Guard." Underside has raised text "In Appreciation Of Your Fine Performance At Manhattan Beach Training Station." While some of these show light general use only the one with a missing link has any sort of damage.
