Item Description
This rare 1940s button is 2-3/16" with text on the rim "Sun-Times Comic Capers Club." Center has large illustrations of Superman in flight while above are Nancy, Sluggo, and the head of a parrot. Reverse has tin covering with horizontal bar pin. Top left quadrant of the cello is just a trifle concave compared to the rest of the surface. There are a couple of .25" very minor surface scratches barely showing even in reflected light. The entire button has exceptional high glossy finish and it displays Mint. This piece is equal to or better than the other three examples we've offered in five decades. Two times we offered this button it realized $2300 and our most recent example in Auction #195 (2008) it realized over $3000. A superior example and rare.
