Auction #206 - Part II
Item numbers 1279 through 2976 in auction 206
Item Description
4.5x7x5.25" tall. c. 1882-1890s. The bank was patented on June 13, 1882. The design is covered by Patent no. 259,403. The bank was made by the Kyser & Rex Company of Frankford, PA. Works. Wind-up mechanism on side of the bank. Place a coin in the slot of the organ and press the lever. The bear revolves and the organ grinder turns the crank which activates the bank. Two spectators watch the activity from behind a wood fence. Bank had two thin hairline cracks on the roof and a thin hairline crack at the center of the fence expertly filled and sealed. This was done by expert bank restoration artist Marc Olimpio, so the work is of the utmost quality, not visible to the naked eye and only shows under blacklight examination. Bank is complete and all original including the trap and interior mechanism. Small trace of paint wear but 90%. Appearance remains Exc. The bank has wonderful visual appeal and exceptional action.
