Item Description
8.5" tall w/flexible rubber head covering that has plastic eye lenses w/metal rims, fabric-covered elastic head straps and metal filter breather. A totally different Mickey Mouse gas mask was created for American sale. c. 1941. One of the most unusual Mickey items and an eerie reflection of the time, created due to the outbreak of World War II and the desire to keep kids safe but in a kid-friendly way. Mask shows trace of aging w/scattered lt. oxidation to metal portions and wear to breather apparatus. Rubber remains pliable and mask remains quite nice for display. Fine. Comes w/zippered leatherette carrying bag which has names/graphics of Pinocchio, Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck. Leatherette is aged and shows some wear, but all graphics remain clean and bag is VF overall. This is the only example of this carrying bag we've ever seen in our 46 years. English manufacturer Happynak (known for their Disney sand pails) also produced a gas mask carrying canister which is equally rare.
