Cardboard box has hinged lid w/specialty art of Smitty showing watch to Herby saying "Ain't My New Wrist Watch A Peach, Herby?" to which Herby answers "Thay, I Bet Yer Have A Thwell Time Now, Thmitty." Art is signed at lower right by cartoonist creator Berndt. Side panels have character art. Inside lid has Smitty text. The New Haven Clock Company. Box is complete w/insert and has warranty paper. Box has lt. wear w/some tiny surface paper lifts and dust soiling. Box remains tight and VG/Fine. 1.5" long chrome luster case w/full figure image of Smitty on dial. Original band well worn and just Good. Crystal has yellowed and bit of surface wear in the form of some tiny scratches. Case has scattered wear w/scratched mostly to back and much luster remains. Dial has scattered wear and aging, but image is strong. Fine. Can be wound but not running and just needs a basic cleaning. One of the rarest character watches and w/extremely rare box, this is only the second we've offered in our 46 years. The last in similar condition sold for over $6,000. Wonderful graphics and great design.
