These items and those from the following ten lots are all from the collection of Ira Reed, author of The Jamestown Exposition, 1907/A Collector’s Guide To Virginia’s World’s Fair. The items in this group range from .75” button to 4-5/8” tall ribbon badge. All items in the group carry the name of the exposition and most with the date 1607-1907. Group contains the following items with any significant condition issues noted. The group begins with a beautiful pair of enamel on brass badges one with initials of United Commercial Travelers and other with the initials of Traveler’s Protective Association. Next is fob picturing John Smith. Next is button with Masonic symbol. Next is beautifully embossed large silvered badge showing a bridge over a waterway. Next is enamel and brass for “New York Day.” Next are heart shaped pair each showing a different building. Next is brass showing John Smith and Pocahontas. This is missing its bar pin. Next is silvered metallic piece that was once attached to something else. John Smith and Pocahontas are shown. Next is Shrine badge for 1911 convention although front shows and reverse reads “West Virginia Coal Tower Exhibited At The Jamestown Exposition 1907.” Next is ribbon badge showing on the front “Israel Putnam” with slogan below “Dared To Lead Where Any Dared To Follow.” Reverse shows Continental soldier with text “Putnam Phalnax.” Next is very attractive piece with hanger reading “National Ice Carnival.” Next is silvered piece with ribbon but no hanger. This shows ship and “Main Auditorium.” Next is ribbon badge from “Pennsylvania Editorial Association.” Dust on the ribbon. Next is ribbon badge although with ribbon having numerous splits. This shows Indian on front and ship on reverse. Next is silvered brass with disintegrating blue ribbon. Medallion reads “Member/Dental Convention.” Hanger below shows John Smith and Pocahontas above depiction of Civil War ships “Monitor & Merrimac.” Except as noted pieces are all in Exc. to Mint condition. An outstanding group with many rarities.
