Item Description
1.25" picturing young black disc jockey in checkered jacket at "WWRL" microphone shown on the left with a record in the lower foreground. Reads "Dr. Jive/Birdel's For Records." Shown is disc jockey Tommy Smalls who broadcasted on a small AM station from the Woodside area in Queens. His Monday-Friday after school show was a favorite and included new releases by local groups from New York plus reviews of rock and roll events at area theaters. His career was ended by the same payola scandal that terminated the career of Alan Freed. A historic NYC area rock and roll button. Very faint traces of age on extreme edge. Some tiny air dots under the cello. Glossy and VF. One of only three we've seen. Our last in similar condition reached $190.00.
