In 1938 Madame Alexander produced 16 different Disney character marionettes, primarily Snow White characters but also Mickey & Minne Mouse, Donald Duck and Pluto. This lot includes five of the Seven Dwarfs, each w/painted composition head, hands/feet and nice quality fabric outfits. Three of the five also have simulated leather belts w/metal buckles. Included in lot are - Doc, Bashful, Happy, Sneezy and Dopey. Dopey is complete w/wooden control unit and attached strings but the rest are w/o, having been removed at some point but all have original loops on heads (Sneezy's loop is replacement) and holes in hands so they could be hung for display or have the controls replaced. Dwarfs are complete w/fabric name tag in collar (w/exception of Sneezy, who is missing tag). Dwarfs have bit of paint wear/flakes/chips mostly to shoes and some to beards. Some scattered typical crazing and aging to outfits. Doc has had paint touch-up to .25" off nose tip. VG to Fine overall and still display nicely. All in this series are scarce.
