Item Description
5x7x5" specimen of Chrysocolla, a sharply colored mineral whose color can be among the brightest shades of blue and green, and is influenced by its copper content. Chrysocolla is often coated by a drusy (an aggregate composed of pointed crystals protruding from a cavity or base layer) of glossy clear quartz, or intergrown together w/the quartz. Chrysocolla is used as a minor gemstone and may be fashioned into beads and polished stones. It is also occasionally faceted into other gemstone forms. Offered here is a 5x7.25x5" tall specimen weighing just over 6 lbs., covered in microcrystals, w/scattered points of teal or lt. blue coloring. Scattered areas of blue to teal Chrysocolla is visible running throughout the rock surrounding the drusy microcrystals area. Specimen was mined from Inca de Oro, Chile. Wonderful display w/several small stalagmitic and stalactitic formations covered in fine microcrystals.
