Item numbers 1235 through 2949 in auction 207
Item Description
See previous item #2948. We are offering an amazing Imperial Jasper carving of a chameleon by artist Rodin Lee. The piece measures 6x6x6.25" tall overall and depicts a chameleon on a rough base. While it may appear that the chameleon was carved separately and attached, this is not the case, as Lee has carved from a solid block, the jasper adding to the piece's visual appeal as Lee has chosen a specimen w/a gradient of coloring, which portrays the chameleon mostly in a rose color, its coiled tail shifting in color from rose to a brownish color and then to a greenish color, perfectly capturing the chameleon's natural ability to change colors to blend into its environment. Lee is known for his sculptures utilizing this effect. Exc. Perfect choice of subject for this beautiful jasper specimen.
