Item Description
The Newport Folk Festival is an American annual folk-oriented music festival in Newport, RI., which began in 1959 as a counterpart to the previously established Newport Jazz Festival. It was Bob Dylan's 1963 and 1964 performances that helped make him popular w/the Newport crowd, but on July 25, 1965 Dylan was booed by some fans for going electric. 8.5x11" program w/50 pages detailing folk music, the festival and those associated w/it (Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Johnny Cash, Judy Collins, Mississippi John Hurt, Odetta, The Osborne Brothers, Peter, Paul and Mary, Muddy Waters, Pete Seeger, others) and has several ads for folk music and instruments. Scattered wear w/pinch creases to spine. Fine. Comes w/rare 2-3/16x3-3/8" pass/ticket marked "Kin" at top which allowed a relative of an act or event staff admittance to the festival. Stamped "No. 024" and filled out "John Court" in ink. Scattered faint staining along top. Fine/VF.
