Item numbers 1278 through 3040 in auction 208
Item Description
Fluorite is a colorful mineral, both in visible and ultraviolet light, and the stone has ornamental and artistic uses. Industrially, fluorite is used as a flux for smelting, and in the production of certain glasses and enamels. Many samples of fluorite exhibit fluorescence under ultraviolet light, a property that takes its name from fluorite. In fluorite, the visible light emitted is most commonly blue, but red, purple, yellow, green and white also occur. The 6.5x11x2.25" deep lt. green specimen we are offering fluoresces blue under black light. The specimen has a crystalline quartz matrix on its underside and displays Exc. This specimen's almost emerald green color makes for a bright and lively cabinet display.
