Item Description
7.75x10.75" hardcover w/104 pages. "Clintonian" 1939 yearbook for De Witt Clinton High School, The Bronx, New York City. This is Stanley Lieber's (Lee's given name) senior yearbook. Lee is featured in typical school portrait within and accompanying text notes his nickname as "Gabby." Text goes on to list his involvement in school publicity departments, public speaking, chess, French and magic clubs and involvement in school law and news journals. Covers show scattered dust soiling/aging. Fine. Interior pages have a few typical inked inscriptions (including a drawn crest w/skull and bones) and have 1x2" area of faint moisture staining at upper spine margins that runs through entire book. Fine. It's interesting to note that 1939 was the year that Timely Comics (which later became Marvel Comics) started, and it was here that Lee got his start in the comic book business. A great piece to have Lee sign at a comic convention. Rare and first we've seen in our 47 years.
