Item Description
Painted composition display is amazing in every way - in size, design and rarity. Two-dimensional w/all original wood bracing/framework attached to reverse along w/the original motors and electric cords. Donald is 37.5x37.5". c. 1935 by Old King Cole Inc., the premiere manufacturer of Disney store displays. Attached to the reverse is a 2.5" dia. original Kay Kamen "seal" sticker. Lower left of display also marked "© Walt Disney Enterprises." Donald's head is designed to move up and down as if nodding. Several small scattered paint flakes, all minor and in no way distracting. This includes thin 1.25" streak of flaking on Donald's hat. Arm that is raised to Donald's mouth has some wear where it connects to body w/.5" crack but remains structurally intact. Display has lt., even aging and some scattered dust soiling. Original electric cord is cracked/frayed and as such we have not tested display to see if it works. Complete and original as produced, w/no restoration or repair work of any kind. Fine/VF. All displays by this company are rare, this is one of the more exceptional examples produced. In our last auction, we offered matching scale Mickey and Minnie Mouse mechanical displays which sold for $18,785 (including buyer's premium). This display is as equally rare and impressive as the Mickey and Minnie displays offered last auction. A must-have for any serious collector of Disneyana and what could easily become the focal point of your collection. Rare and the first we've offered in our 47 years.
