Item Description
11x17”. Very tanned edges to depth of .5 to 1” due to nature of the cardboard but displays beautifully and is otherwise in outstanding condition. The third candidate mentioned here is Rockwell Kent. Although he lost this election he was a successful illustrator, painter and author prior to World War II. He did illustrations for many weekly publications of the day. After the war he became involved in politics and joined the American Labor Party. By the early 1950s, he became a target of Joseph McCarthy and was considered to be a Communist. He finally won a legal victory against the government who tried to stop him from traveling abroad. His defeat in this 1948 election was of little significance for the legacy he left. Rare. First seen in five
decades.
