Item Description
This is the four page 8.25x10.5” stiff paper program for the Madison Square Garden event that became a high point in the legacies of both Marilyn Monroe and John Kennedy. Marilyn’s unique rendering of Happy Birthday for JFKs 45th can be seen on Youtube. The fund raiser to retire campaign debts brought politicians and Hollywood together. Other performers listed in the program include; Jack Benny, Ella Fitzgerald, Henry Fonda, Maria Callas, Peggy Lee, Peter Lawford, Bobby Darin and Diahann Carroll. Marilyn was shooting ‘Something’s Got To Give” in Hollywood and already missed scheduled work but she ignored her 20th Century Fox bosses and flew to New York for the event. She was fired, but later re-hired. However, the movie was not finished as she died less than three months later on Aug. 5, 1962. Program has three faint handling creases at center .5 to 1” long and barely visible. Bright, clean and Exc. Very limited distribution to attendees. Historic.
