Item Description
3.75x5.25x1.25" deep box w/paper label on top showing three figures and radio. 1930s. ©Famous Artists Syndicate. Made in Japan, distributed by Geo. Borgfeldt Corporation. Set No.66/1850 contains 3.5" tall Annie and Daddy Warbucks, 1.5" tall Sandy, and 1-5/8" tall floor model radio. Each has been nicely hand-painted. Box shows lt. trace of wear but remains tight and VF. Label has some aging along left margin and some lt. dust soiling. Fine. Contents are Exc./NM. Interesting set w/inclusion of radio, as "Little Orphan Annie" was adapted to a 15-minute radio show that debuted on WGN Chicago in 1930 and went national on NBC's Blue Network beginning April 6, 1931. The show was one of the first comic strips adapted to radio and left the air in 1942. Nicely designed set.
