Item Description
Thanksgiving Day 1925. 3-3/8x5-3/8”. Brooks photo #3321. has sharp image of players in uniforms seated at edge of field w/crowd watching. Players have lap blankets w/their names, darker “Red Grange” blanket stands out at right side. Hall of Famers George Halas and George Trafton are also in the picture. Lower left caption reads “Red Grange & Chgo. Bears At Cub’s Ball Park Chicago.”. Lt. emulsion silvering around edges from age just visible in reflected light, a few barely noticeable tiny pinpoint dots of missing edge color. Lower right corner has a few tiny dots of discoloration in photographer credit area. All is mentioned for accuracy’s sake. Still VF. The significance of this postcard in NFL history is undeniable. The Chicago Bears were struggling to stay afloat and the NFL needed a big drawing ticket. One week after ending his college football career Red Grange was signed by the Bears and played in his first NFL game, as recorded by this postcard. An incredible piece of football and sports history. The only one known to us.
