Beautiful 1930s set features repeated art of Popeye holding Swee'pea in front of Christmas tree decorated w/these shades. Art appears on die-cut box lid w/double Popeye portraits on front and back side panels. Box is complete w/original die-cut cardboard insert that holds the included eight 1-5/8" tall "Textolite" plastic shades. A few tabs that hold shades in place are loose, but all shades remain in place. Each features nice decal featuring Popeye, Wimpy, Castor Oyl and Olive Oyl (but mainly Popeye fighting thugs). Set features eight different decals. A few minor decal hairlines but these are only noticeable upon close inspection and do not greatly detract from overall appearance which remains VF/Exc. Box lid has tape reinforcement to inside of partially split lid hinge. Scattered aging/dust soiling and wear w/.75" tear along top margin of front panel. VG.
