Item Description
5-1/8" long with pair of partially used cardboard blotter sheets on the reverse held by a celluloid button with brass ears on the reverse. Button reads "Soiled Blotter Replaced If Top Is Returned To Us." Celluloid cover depicts a twelve story department store with tiny horse drawn carriages and people in the street level area. A red banner flies from the roof "Schlesinger And Mayer Chicago." At upper left is a 1-1/8" wide depiction of a multi-colored butterfly with a die-cut line around the entire perimeter of each wing so that each wing is slightly elevated. Tiny text on bottom edge of cello sheet naming Pulver of Rochester as the maker. This dates the piece to c. 1904. Only example we've seen of this style. Displays Mint.
