Item Description
2.5” tall brass watch fob with a wreath surrounding an image of the North American continent with partial depiction of South America. At the center is a tiny star above the name “Kansas City.” Above this is a large question mark between the two words “North Pole.” Above this are full figures of the explorers standing by a vertical shaft representing the pole. Above this are icicle formations and the entire scene is enclosed within a wreath design. Text on reverse reads “Compliments Of Danciger Bros. Kansas City, Mo. Design Copyrighted” with small name of maker Childs, Chicago below. Most bright luster is off the front with more remaining on the reverse. c. 1909 and inspired by the controversy between the two men as to who reached the pole first. Only example we’ve seen.
