Item Description
Hard cardboard box has group logo on the top. Obvious loss of some reddish color but still substantially intact. Interior is lined with cloth. Size is 2.25x2.5x.5" thick. Inside is 1-5/16" dark bronze medal with a ring and loop at the top. Front shows swimmer being rescued with surrounding text "Royal Life Saving Society Established 1891." That was the founding date of this United Kingdom group who's motto was "Whomever You See In Distress, Recognize His Humanity." That is the Latin surrounding the outer reverse edge with center having text "Awarded To" and hand engraved text "R. Bogolofsky Mar. 1935." Mint. A rare unique award.
