Item Description
7.75x10.25" hardcover by Blue Ribbon Books © 1934. 28-page story w/color and bw illustrations throughout plus two instruction pages. Complete, unpunched and intact as bound are the four punch-out pages w/waddle figures of Mickey & Minnie Mouse, Pluto and Tanglefoot. There are a few loose perfs but all is intact. There is no dust jacket and also not included is the separate ramp that came enclosed in an envelope w/instructions printed on the outside. However, all could be replaced from other copies, what can't be replaced or replicated is the fact that this is a file copy. The blank page opposite the tile page has bold ink stamp reading "File Copy/Not To Be Taken From The Office/Kay Kamen, Ltd." During the Great American Depression of the 1930s, while U.S. President Herbert Hoover promised a chicken in every pot, Kay Kamen promised a Disney character in every home. A stickler for quality, he set an unprecedented standard in licensing Disney character merchandise: books, music, toys and more and subsequently, helped transform Mickey Mouse, and other Disney characters into superstars. Publisher of "Tomart's Disneyana Update" Tom Tumbusch said, "Kay Kamen invented the whole licensing industry. Not just for Disney, alone; others followed suit." Small traces of wear along cover edges which have slight age tone as well. Cover remains totally bright, clean and w/vibrant color. Slightest trace of aging to contents but still NM. A truly spectacular copy, rarely found in this condition and unpunched. As exceptional as the condition is, the fact that this is a Kay Kamen file copy takes it to another level entirely. One of the most amazing Disney books we have offered in our 47 years.
