Item Description
1-7/8" tall die-cut and embossed brass with design of what seems to be a hummingbird posed upside-down above stems, leaves and three roses. Reverse has a hinged clip for wearing. Item is known as the Heart's Desire dress clip and was a 1930s Ovaltine premium. Item was offered as Orphan Annie unmarked premium but with her name on the order form for "Costume Jewelry Gifts" from Ovaltine. Same premium was also used for the Quaker Oats sponsored radio show "Girl Alone - Patricia Roberts." Done in brass but as issued without high luster. This example comes with the Quaker 3.5x4.75x1.5" deep cardboard mailer with their label and radio title "Girl Alone." Box is Fine. Clip is Exc. In Hake's Pop Culture guide as Orphan Annie #LAN-122.
