Nine volumes of “Down Beat” monthly magazine are for years 1946-1951, 1953-1954, and 1956. Hard covers average 11.25x15.25”, 1956 is 9.25x11”. Page count ranges from 20 to 24 for the earlier issues up to 44 for the later issues. Four “Metronome” bound volumes range in size from 10x12.5” for 1946-1947 to 9.25x11-5/8” for 1950-1951. Earlier issues average 52 pages, later issues average 40 pages. Both groups are extensively illustrated throughout. Cover photos include: Count Basie, Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Stan Getz, Miles Davis, Woody Herman, Buddy Rich, Lena Horne, Judy Garland, Gene Krupa, Nat King Cole, Tony Bennett, Harry James, Charlie Barnet, Les Paul and Mary Ford, Red Norvo, and many,many more. “Down Beat” covers are printed horizontally w/contents printed vertically as published. Covers have bit of edge wear. Contents have a few creases here and there, most noticeable on several “Metronome” issues. Condition ranges from Fine to Exc.
