Item Description
8x10x1.5" deep box contains complete and working set c. 1940. Box has obvious wear including edge splits with clear tape repairs, dust soiling, 5" split on the lid along right edge. One side panel of lid also has .5x1" piece missing. Box graphics remain strong but overall box is just good. Box does have the insert that includes Superman illustration and detailed description of the gun's features and list of filmstrip titles. This insert also has scattered wear with a few small edge splits, Fine. The battery operated steel film viewer gun is 7" long. Very nicely designed with raised image of Superman on the left side. Gun's name is incised on the grip. Has bulb and gun lights. Gun has all-over pinpoint scattered traces of surface oxidation although for the most part this blends with the dark finish of the gun. Fine. Has complete amount of seven 16mm bw filmstrips with titles that include "One Man Police Force, The Subway Mystery, Killing The Cab Racket," etc. One has small track but overall filmstrips remain Exc. Final item is 3.5x5.25" paper with instructions on one side and list of films on the other and this includes image of Superman as well as Red Ryder. Moderate scattered aging with some light creases from handling. Fine. Scarce, complete and working. From the Hake Collection.
