Item Description
24" long hinged-lid hard case w/handle contains 22.5" long nice quality wood construction banjo w/taut skin covering that has been hand-painted w/a politically-incorrect, stereotypical depiction of a African-American banjo-playing musician holding banjo. Banjo originally had four strings, though one has been replaced w/plastic line and two are metal strings. 1930s. Case has hand-painted "Jo Jo" name and shows moderate wear. VG. Art area shows scattered wear w/some small paint flakes, more noticeable on hands and banjo area than face. Art still displays Fine. Banjo shows lt. wear w/moderate aging to skin covering of body. Could easily be re-strung. VG/Fine overall. Sold as is as an instrument. Now more a folk art piece for display.
